Kid Cudi said it would take “a Mot**Fu**ng miracle” for him and Kanye West to be friends again, while also suggesting that other people who fell out with West were usually too quick to forgive. Of course, among the people who fell out with West and then forgave him was Kid Cudi. But this fall is different, he stressed.
They snapped again earlier this year, apparently because Cudi is friends with Pete Davidson, who started dating West’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian after the split. This resulted in West removing all of Cudi’s contributions to his ‘Donna 2’ album and – more recently – taking another dig at his former collaborator after Davidson and Kardashian split.
Now Cudi says there’s always been an imbalance in their professional relationship, explaining in an interview with Esquire : “I was on every album of that person. He only came to my two. That should tell you something. And don’t think I didn’t ask.”
But while they’ve had creative differences before, Cudi says this fall is different.
“You know what it’s like to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because someone is saying something about you?” she asked the question. “And then you’ve got this person’s troll messaging you on Instagram and Twitter? All of your comments? That shit pissed me off. The week he had the power to fuck me. That he used his power to fuck me. That bothers me. You’re fucking with my mental health now, bro”.
“I’m not one of your kids, I’m not Kim”, he added. “It doesn’t matter if I’m friends with Pete or not friends with Pete. None of this shit had anything to do with me. What if you can’t be a grown man and deal with the fact that you lost your woman? It’s not my fucking problem. Like every human being in this life you need to own your shit. I lost women too. And I’ve had to own it up. I don’t need it in my life. I don’t need it”.
“The twist is that I love him, but I love you so much that I could kick you out of my life and be done with your ass”, he concluded. “Because you’re not good enough for me”.
So, right now, things seem pretty conclusive for their friendship. Moving on to West’s many other conflicts — and the tendency for people to ignore things he says and rekindle friendships or start cooperating again — well, Cuddy thinks people should be less tolerant in this domain.
Kid Cudi Says It’ll Take “A Miracle”
“I’m at a point in my life where I have zero tolerance for wrong energy,” he says. “I’ve seen a lot of people over the years who could burn the people closest to them with some fucked-up shit. And then they turn around and forgive him. And there is no response. You are back to being cool with this man. He does it over and over again.”
Specifically, the rapper highlighted Drake, who West previously took exception to but has now seemingly buried the hatchet.
“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s going to take a picture with her next week and be friends again, and their beef has been cut,” Cudi said. “That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I’m done with you. It’s going to take a Mot**Fu**ng miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He’s got to be a monk.”
To be fair, looking at the history of the West, it is not entirely inconceivable that he would become a monk at some point. So maybe there’s still hope that we’ll hear him and Cudi work together again in the future.
