Betis saw their best record marred by a 65th-minute defeat marked by Rodrigo’s goal after the team had scored in the first half.
Fede Valverde helped his Brazilian team-mate to set up a goal a minute after entering the game, serving the champions.
The visitors started the game well, but Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. scored after a penalty was disallowed.
The Brazilian star beat the offside trap to race onto the high ball and his control and high shot over the keeper was incredible.
Former Real Madrid player Sergio Canales equalized in the first half from a penalty kick.
Borja Iglesias put the ball to him in the box and Canales scored the first goal, beating Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
